"Okay, I need you three to go get feathers off a Rossmeck bird, about 20 will do, and then go to the shore and pull some moss off the rocks there. You can find the moss on the side facing towards the sea. Small clumps the size of your fist will do."
The mage Ceron was explaining how to get the ingredients needed for the "Create Teleport Gate" spell.
"How are we going to catch the birds?" asked Bartley.
"Ahh... good question." said Ceron with a thoughtfull expression as he wandered out into the hall. The followed him into a storage room where he pulled out a couple small nets from a wooden box.
"This should work. Now remember, don't kill the bird. If you do all the magic will drain out of the feathers and they'll be useless. You've got to pluck them off a live bird so they'll keep the magical properties. But be carefull when you're plucking the bird, they have a sharp crest on the back of their head that can cut you. Also being pecked or scratched won't feel too good either."
They followed him back to his study on the fourth floor. There he handed them a map.
"I've marked the closest nesting sight of the Rossmecks. It's on the other side of this swampy place, near that stand of pines. It shouldn't take you too long to get there."
They took the map and after studying it for a minute went down stairs to get ready to leave.
